Wicklow referee Anthony Nolan will take charge of the Leinster senior football final on Sunday next (July 16th) in Croke Park. Anthony a former inter county footballer himself captained Baltinglass to senior football success in 2007 and has had a steady rise up the refereeing ladder since he took up the whistle in 2010.
He will be assisted on Sunday by his umpires Donal O’Keeffe, Kiltegan clubman Damien Byrne, Peter Case from Donard the Glen and Patrick Doyle from Rathnew. His linesmen are Barry Cassidy from Derry and Noel Mooney from Cavan.
The holders Dublin face Kildare in what should be an interesting encounter. Kildare under Cian O’Neill have made steady progress in 2017 and looked impressive at times in their win over Meath in the semi-final.
Dublin are chasing their 7th title in a row and their 12th in the last thirteen seasons.
Anthony follows in the footsteps of Eamon Moules from Aughrim who reffed the 1962 final between Dublin and Offaly and Jimmy Hatton another well known Wicklow ref.
We wish him and his team all the very best on Sunday.
