St.Pat's U12 girls retain title in a thriller

Two late points from midfielder Sinead McGettigan gave St Pats U12 girls a league and championship double.

Going into the game unbeaten the Wicklow girls fell behind with a goal from Arklow’s star forward Aine O Reilly. But for two points from Sinead McGettigan and a point each from Niamh McSorley and Niamh Caffrey gave the Wicklow Town girls the lead only to be rocked as AGB scored a second goal.

A further three points from the excellent Sinead Mcgettigan and a point from AGB left the half time score 2-01 to 0-6 in favour of the Arklow girls.

The second half started similar as the first, as AGB scored a third goal to put them four points in front However a point for Pats and a goal from poacher Michaela Dickinson levelled the match.

The two teams exchanged further points and a twenty yard free from Sinead McGettigan who took her personal tally to seven points proved to be the match winning score with five minutes remaining. Some great defending from Amy Kavanagh Lucy Dunne Sarah Evans, Kellie Phelan and midfielder Clodagh Irwin helped the Wicklow girls to victory and retain the cup for a second year in a row.

Final score AGB 3-03 to St. Patricks 1-10.
