Knockanna Pip Glenealy

Senior Final

Knockananna 2-7 Glenealy 1-9

This match was always going to be a close and though encounter with Glenealy being the kingpins in the senior grade for the last few years and Knockananna with a good young team coming up.
Glenealy were the hungrier team from the start with Laura Manley and Pamela Maher picking off some nice scores.
However Knockananna were keeping in touch particularly thanks to Sinead Byrne and Clare Byrne. Every score had to be fought hard for and Glenealy seemed to be able to get theirs that bit easier. Midway through the second half they seemed to be home leading by 6 points. Knockananna kept working hard and when Lucy Mulhall scored a goal for them it was all to play for.
Lucy Mulhall then scored a point and there was only two between them. A long ball then came in and after a scramble near the goalmouth the ball was crashed to the Glenealy net to leave Knockananna ahead by 1 point. They held on and won out on a score line of 2-7 to 1-9. The league cup was presented to the Knockananna captain and the player of the match award to Aine Byrne.
