Wicklow Under 16 Panel

The county u-16 panel had a very successful trial run against top Dublin club side Ballyboden St Enda’s on Friday night. Despite fielding with only thirteen players, a very determined and battling performance saw the Wicklow girls run out comprehensive 10-3 to 2-1 winners.

Rachel Byrne (Knockananna), Stacy O’Neill (Glenealy)and Aine Byrne (Knockananna) shared the goal keeping duties, while the full back line was comprised of Jodie Lifely (Annacurra) and Aine O’Keefe (Knockananna). Stacy O’Neill, Niamh Kenny (Annacurra) and Sarah Lifely (Annacurra) marshalled the half-backline, ably backing up the pairing of Aine Byrne and April Dickinson (Glenealy) at midfield. The half-forward line was Lottie Cullen (Glenealy), Aishling McCabe (Kilcoole) and Caressa O’Toole (Kilcoole) with two strikers completing the team, Emily Stephenson (Glenealy) and Niamh Shannon (Annacurra).

Wicklow’s next outing is against Ferns in Wexford next Saturday evening the 8th May at 7pm. Given that a panel of 24 players have committed to this team, it is hoped that we will be back to full strength for this encounter as management intensify preparations ahead of their Leinster Championship encounter with Offaly on June 20th.
